Privacy Policy — Bay Area Swim

Bay Area Swim is a free public website that shows water-quality status for Bay Area swim spots. We aim to collect as little data as possible. This page explains what happens when you visit.

What we collect

Anonymized, aggregated page views via Cloudflare Web Analytics. Cloudflare measures traffic at the edge without setting cookies and without building individual profiles.

What we don't collect

No user accounts, logins, or profiles.
No names, emails, phone numbers, or other personal contact information.
No precise location tracking. We do not request geolocation permissions.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing.

Cookies

Bay Area Swim itself does not set tracking cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless. If advertising is enabled in the future (see below), that will change and this policy will be updated first.

Third parties

The following services receive standard HTTP request metadata (IP address, user agent, referring URL) as part of serving the site:

Cloudflare — hosts and delivers the site (CDN) and provides privacy-preserving, cookieless analytics.
MapTiler — map tiles on the interactive map. Receives your IP address when tiles are requested.

Data retention

We do not operate our own analytics database. Data retention follows Cloudflare's published policies.

Advertising

No advertising is served on Bay Area Swim today. We may enable Google AdSense or similar advertising in the future. When we do, ad partners may set cookies for frequency capping and ad targeting. This policy will be updated with disclosures and opt-out information before any ads go live. We do not and will not sell personal information.

Children

Bay Area Swim is a general-audience information site. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Your rights

For any privacy-related request — including questions, deletion inquiries, or data access — email patrickbeekman1095@gmail.com. Because we do not maintain user accounts, most requests are answered by explaining what the third-party providers above retain.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
